Vehicle Rust Tip: I have looked at numerous vehicles on the road and there has always been a common theme. They tend to rust in the same spots. Have you ever wondered why? I have and I asked my husband to explain it to me.
They rust in the same spot on vehicles due to dirt, salt and moisture accumulating in pockets that are difficult to clean out.
Stone chips will assist in your vehicle rusting in certain spots as well – catch them early.
Different Options to fix or prevent:
Taking the time to wash out properly in a manual car wash that you use yourself and spend the time to clean these pockets out, will prolong the life of the metal. Doing this on a regular basis will definitely alleviate that problem.
Making sure your vehicle is undercoated properly, will also help with prolonging the vehicles undercarriage from rusting.
If you catch the rust early, there are methods you can use to protect, cover and preserve the metal.
You can sand the spot down and spray it with a rust inhibitor that will slow down the rusting process, you can do this on your wheel wells and then purchase the plastic fender flares and put them on – this also assists in prolonging the life of the metal and it looks better – they are fairly inexpensive on Amazon. However, you need to wash behind these well on a regular basis, otherwise it will hold moisture and continue the rusting issue.

You can also choose to pay to have someone do this. Catching the rust early and rectifying it is the key, otherwise it can get very costly.
