Simpler Times: Before the invention of cell phones, people were more relaxed. If they missed a call, they didn’t even know about it half the time, or they would check their voicemail and eventually call them back.
It was a very different time. Now people get upset if they can’t get a hold of you right away. They will call, text, and email you to try to get your attention quicker. It’s almost comical – but it is stressful. It’s like we are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I have a place where we go camping in the summer – it is my little piece of heaven. The thing that I like most about it is that there is no cell service there. I put my phone in the car and leave it there until we get home.
It is such a nice break away from the rat race. If you haven’t ever allowed yourself time like that, try it. Take a day and shut your phone off or a weekend. Obviously, tell the important people in your life that you are doing that before you shut it off, so they don’t worry about you and come looking for you to see if you are ok! Lol
Questions to Ponder:
How on demand are you?
When your phone rings sometimes, do you just want to ignore it?
Do you screen your calls?
If so, how often?
