Business Tip or Opinion of the Day

Business Tip – Safety & Health Week – Apr 24/25

Safety & Health Week: May 1 – 6, 2023 previously referred to as NAOSH Week (North American Occupational Safety and Health Week).  Some have changed it to this and others still celebrate it as NAOSH week which will be held the week after.

“Safety and Health Week, which takes place this year from May 1-6, is an ideal time for employers, employees, partners, and the public to focus on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community.

Starting on May 1, you're invited to join our virtual activities to celebrate Safety and Health Week. Sign up for free, live, online sessions kicking off with our National Launch.

For ideas on how you can celebrate and to access tools and resources to help you plan and promote your events, visit the national Safety and Health Week website”. – excerpt taken from https://www.ccohs.ca/events/safety-and-health-week/

Take time to put something together and have some focus around safety during Safety & Health week.

You can find lots of information, events and activities online – you do not have to reinvent the wheel or take a lot of time to figure this out but this is a prime opportunity to make safety a focal point and priority.

It is a time where you can bring about awareness but also incorporate things that people in their personal life that relates to safety: such as but not limited to;

Doing the speed limit, what do they wear when cutting the grass, protecting yourself from theft, car alarms, house alarms, keeping things clean and tidy, driving scenarios, to name a few…

Try and make safety relatable to people and they will see it differently.

Questions to Ponder:

Do you regularly prioritize NAOSH week in your organization or business?

How do you make safety relatable?

Is safety a priority to you and your staff?
