Volunteering: Have you taken the opportunity to volunteer to assist in something?
There are so many businesses, places, organizations, non-profits, and senior’s homes that utilize and need people to volunteer their time.
If you have time, it is well worth the effort of volunteering.
I started volunteering when I was 12 at a Senior’s Home in our area. I assisted the activity director – so we did crafts, exercises, all sorts of indoor and outdoor activities, puzzles, games, etc. It was a great experience.
I also helped out in our church nursery and then later teaching Sunday School.
In my 20’s, I volunteered in another Senior’s complex and then branched off into assisting people with Alzheimer’s and their transition with moving from their home to a Senior’s complex. I assisted the individual along with their family members. It was a very unique experience and I learned a lot and am grateful for that.
After having children, I volunteered with their activities and sports.
After that, I tended to assist people personally and volunteered to do things during the evening or weekends, if someone needed help painting or building something or just needed help organizing things or getting ready for a garage sale!
I volunteered to assist my friend who ran as a Candidate in the 2021 Election, as her Official Agent. That was an experience. Until then, I really had not been involved in the political realm. I learned a lot, found out things about our country, policies, politics and more. I am glad I had the opportunity to embark on this new area of volunteering. They need a lot of volunteers to put this all together and it is neat to be a part of it.
Volunteering gives you a unique experience. It is enjoyable knowing that you are helping be part of something that is bigger than your world and making a difference in someone else’s life for no other gain than a good feeling.
