Personal Tip – Loneliness – Aug 1/24

Loneliness:  I would say that is one word that comes to mind during the pandemic and really opened our eyes to that.

Due to the restrictions and lock downs, it kept people inside and without a lot of outside communication or visitation.

With a lot of people working from home as well, there was a lot less face to face human interaction.

I know it definitely impacted our seniors in a negative way.  Things are back to what it was, but people are still leary of being around many people.

Only the people who work with the general public were still surrounded by people but even that was through distance, curb side service and so on.

With the political portion added on to the medical health side of things, it also created great division due to people’s views, beliefs, ideals, health, etc.

This created an environment of isolation and essentially a loneliness that wass truly a travesty, especially if you are someone who isn’t very tech savvy or lives on your own.  There are a lot of people who do not have computers, tablets or smart phones and haven’t had video conferencing throughout this time.

At least we have the technology at this time and we can see people and enjoy that much through video calls that aren’t breaking the bank.

Questions to Ponder:

Have you felt or experienced a larger loneliness this past few years?

How have you managed with it?

What are you doing now to make changes to it?

Are things getting better?

What have you learned about yourself and others?

How could we do better in the future if something else happened?
