Life – Technology - Life
It has been a while since my last post – a lot has happened…
On a personal level, I worked a lot of long hours, (but I do love what I do and it was my choice), I fell down the stairs of my 114 year old house (the steep, narrow stairs), which knocked the wind out of my sails for longer than I would like to admit! Lol
I did some landscaping in my yard – took out all of the grass and added rock – it looks and feels amazing but was a lot of work…and helped out with my aging parents, which continues to be an ongoing thing and will be – I am blessed to be able to assist them in their later years and hopefully help with their quality of life.
There are many more things I could mention that took my time away from working on my website but it was technology that hindered me the most…
One day, I tried to get into the backend of my website and I was locked out. My friend that has assisted me in the past with these things was away for a month and out of reach – travelling and I wasn’t about to bother them for their assistance on their vacation. So I waited. I did some research on my own, tried a few things and got nowhere but frustrated…
Then we got it up and running after he got back but it went down again a few days later….hmmm
So we did some research on this and then he had a heart attack, which took him out of the running of being my helpmate.
I did some more research on my own, tried a few different things and got nowhere but frustrated again…
Another individual started to assist and then we lost it all…everything was gone…my heart sunk.
So, I had to start all over again – everything from the beginning.
I took my time and got it back to where it was.
I added all the information to get it back up to the point to match my Facebook posts.
I was going to try to get it up to date completely but by this time, a lot of time had gone by. If I tried to catch up on my posts, I would have continually been behind, playing catch up and would create an environment for stress to thrive.
So, I made a decision to let it go and start fresh – honestly, it took a bit of time to make that decision, as that isn’t the way I like to operate and doesn’t fit well with my personality but it made the most sense.
Things were finally up and running in late January and I made it accessible on the web again. I wanted to wait a little bit to make sure there were no issues before posting anything further.
A week later it went down again.
This time, I asked for help from a different place and it was up and running again! Yay!! Finally…
See I am not exactly what you would call a techy person – when my computer doesn’t work the first thing I want to do is hit it with a hammer! LOL
I know how to work a computer (software) and think I know my way around that portion of it quite well – however on the hardware side of things – complete lack of knowledge and understanding. But I do try to do my best.
The key is having the right people at your fingertips that can help as needed, when needed. I finally have figured who that is for my website now.
I waited a little bit longer and checked my site daily – all was going well… I was just about to start reposting items last week, when it went down again and wasn’t available… omg
So I reconnected with the people that helped me previously and found out it was a server update issue. Within hours, I was up and running again and he mentioned that he did a permanent fix this time and that it should not be an issue again.
I waited a few more days, checking the site continually and “Voila” it is working again. All is well!
Now, I can get back into what I was doing and enjoying and hope that you enjoy as well.
We all have these little hiccups and speed bumps in life – it is how we deal with them that defines us.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
